![]() While Irfanview is free, with no obligations, nags or restrictions, I gladly paid the $15 donation/registration that the author asks for. Irfanview has all the basic photo editing features and filters, and will quickly convert any image file to your choice of multiple image formats. It is called Irfanview and is one of the most downloaded free program on the internet. If you do not have a graphics and/or photo program, there is a great little program that I have used for years for simple editing, and highly recommend. Virtually any graphics program these days allow conversion of multiple image formats, like jpeg, png etc. However, it is a simple process to convert a bmp to a jpeg. Some programs allow you to save an image in multiple formats, but Tiera-zon does not. When Tiera-zon saves an image it saves it as a bmp file format, not jpeg. How do I save a fractal as a jpeg in Tiera-zon? In this case select resampling when downsizing. Think billboard from a 1/4 mile away! You can take any larger image and reduce the size without any quality loss in the image. If the image will be large, say 5 feet wide, and presumably up on a wall farther away from the viewer, the resolution can be even lower without sacrificing the look of the image. Any closer & they will be able to see the actual dots from the printing process within the print. Be aware that this will reduce the resolution, or DPI.Ī resolution of around 200 dpi - 225 dpi is fine as long as the viewer will be no closer than a foot away from the image. However, you can enlarge an image for printing by making sure that when resizing you are NOT resampling the image during coversion. 8x10 print would be rendered at a resolution of 2400 x 3000 To calculate this, simply multiply the two dimensions of your prints final size by 300, and then render at that size. Optimally you want to render your image for printing at 300 dpi (dots per inch), which is 90,000 dots per inch when printed. In order to achieve the best reults, you will want to render the image at the desired final size that you wish the print size to be. These images are made up of tiny squares, called pixels, and when they are blown up the squares simply get larger and the detail is lost. In a word,no! The image quality will be horrible if not done properly. ![]() Most of all, good luck! It takes time and effort to achieve good results, so be patient and determine what works for your printing/monitor combination.Ĭan I take a small fractal image and blow it up to print it? Be sure to keep a record of what you do, so that when you have a successful match, you will be able to re-print the image correctly the next time. Using a graphics program, correct the color inconsistencies & try again. Once you have received it back, compare that with what you see on your monitor. Find out which profiles your printer uses and then calibrate based on these profiles.Third, trial & error! Try printing a smaller, inexpensive print of your fractal. Second, if using a high end graphics program, like Photoshop, you can use custom printing profiles. First, if possible purchase a monitor calibration kit and re-calibrate your monitor each month. There is no easy solution to this problem, but there are a few things you can do to ensure the best results. However, it is much more likely that your print's colors may look quite different. You may luck out and have the printed image look just like you see on your monitor. In addition, there are other factors that affect this, including where you have the images printed, what type of printing press they are using, what color calibrations/profiles they use etc. Unfortunately, that is a fact of life in the world of computer monitors! on your computer monitor, compared to mine. My fractals that I post online may look more washed out, or too dark, etc. The primary reason is that every computer monitor, even exact models, vary in the color you see displayed. This is the million dollar question! Any one who has attempted to print anything displayed on a computer monitor, such as a photo, graphic image, fractal etc. Why don't the colors of my fractal prints match what I see on my computer monitor?

![]() It’s a dual baffle comp that vents more gas upwards than downwards to compensate for recoil-induced muzzle rise. The complex appearance of the baffle and port structure is really cool. Previously seen in the AR-15 Muzzle Brake Shootout #2 recoil test.įlawless machining and an extremely consistent and nice black phosphate finish. Solid performance and you probably already, accidently own one(s). If hiding flash is your priority, the ol’ birdcage is always going to be the budget champion. Of course, there’s a good chance that one came on your rifle from the factory. If there’s a FH test #2 in the cards, I suppose I’ll have to tape the focus ring down.įairly standard going rate for a brand new A2 Birdcage style flash hider is about $9. ![]() ![]() Looks like the blast from the gunshots progressively bumped the focus on my lens, and naturally I didn’t notice until looking at the pictures on my computer later. If you notice the action photos getting blurrier as the test goes on, well, it isn’t in your head. I noted obvious errors and/or complete omissions on many manufacturers’ sites so chose not to use any of their info across the board. All stated weights and dimensions are as measured by me. As you’ll see in the chart below, they were so bright that including them would have completely destroyed the scale of the graph. ^^^ note that bare muzzle, DoubleStar Dragon, Spike’s Tactical Dynacomp Extreme, and Troy Claymore are missing from the graph above. Click here to download the Excel doc with all of the data - Lux reading, weight, length, diameter, and price - for each FH. With all of that said, our flash suppression winner is… drum roll please…Ĭlick any of the charts, graphs, and photographs that follow to enlarge them. With an ambient reading of 0.25, it sure didn’t add much. For example, our winner turned in a result of just 0.31 Lux. The light meter was not “zeroed” out, so all of the Lux readings to follow “include” the ambient light level. For reference, 0.25 Lux is apparently about how bright a 3/4-full moon makes the ground. Thanks to the artificially-lighted environment inside of Sharp Shooting’s range, the light meter read a consistent 0.25 Lux during the entirety of the testing. This was all fired through my go-to upper, which is an Adams Arms complete piston upper with 16″ barrel.Same goes for the light meter, which recorded the peak brightness moment of all three of those shots. This means every photo seen below is actually three gunshots all captured on one camera shot. Three shots of American Eagle 5.56 were fired while the camera’s shutter was open.It was set on “peak hold” to hopefully record the brightest single moment for each FH. ![]()
